Degree and University: Business Management, Nottingham Trent University
Which TUI graduate scheme you’re on: IT Graduate Scheme
What are you doing in your current assignment?:
I’m currently working in the Portfolio Management Office managing two of our project portfolios – my job includes analysing and managing risks and issues of the projects, implementing project assurance and project health checks, ensuring the projects are delivered to plan and project planning and scheduling. IT has such a wide reach and is key to not only keep things running, but to enable strategic growth and keep ahead of our competitors.
What is your favourite thing about working at TUI?:
I love the fact that holidays are the end product of what we do! That makes it an exciting company to work for, knowing that your work contributes to making someone’s holiday experience special. Plus there is always something exciting going on within the office whether that’s launching a new destination with a big festivity (and a themed lunch!) having our suppliers in for a celebration event, or our Christmas Masquerade ball – there’s never a quiet moment in TUI towers.
What were you doing at this time last year?:
A year ago I was working here at TUI in the Product Planning department where I planned and implemented resort strategies for Greek islands including Crete, Corfu and Kos to name a few – My role included choosing which hotels we sell holidays to, which brands those hotels fit under and analysing sales and quality of our existing range.
If you could combine two holidays, what would they be?:
I think it would have to be an adventurous trip to start with, like hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru – I’ve always wanted to do this! Followed by a relaxing beach and spa break somewhere exotic in the Caribbean.
Which world landmark would you most like to visit in the future and why?
Although not quite exotic, I’ve always wanted to visit Rome and the Vatican City and see some great historic wonders.
What’s your proudest achievement and why?:
Running the St Albans half marathon this summer (2014) – on very little training! Although it has put me off running for life…
