Name: Fleur Hinchliffe
Degree and University: Business Studies at Northumbria University
Which TUI graduate scheme are you on?
Commercial Leadership Programme
What are you doing in your current assignment?
I am currently working in Airline on the ‘Cost Index’ calculation which dictates how fast we fly our planes; looking to see if we can fly more efficiently to reduce costs. It’s fun working with the pilots – they have a great sense of humour!
What were you doing at this time last year?
This time last year I was planning my summer travels whilst writing my dissertation.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
Bali! I have always wanted to visit Bali and I just missed out on doing it this year so definitely on my to-do list for 2016.
What’s your favourite thing about working for TUI?
The variety of people and departments that make up this company! I could spend a day walking round learning about all the different areas and I would only know a fraction of what goes into making great holidays. Also so many unusual facts- like did you know we rent the hold space on our planes to other companies? We fly shoes, pets and fresh produce all over the world!
What’s your most embarrassing moment at work?
Where do I start… as I began my career on the Placement Scheme I have had my fair share of embarrassing moments which my team kindly kept a record of. These quotes sum up some of the embarrassing things I have said:
“I quite wish I was an octopus…”
“Isn’t Marmaris an animal?”
“I’m sorry; I just like to powder my grapes”
If you could only take 3 items with you to a desert island, what would they be?
Iced Green Tea, My Dog and a Taylor Swift Cd.
