TUI Think Digital

The digital world is changing at a rapid pace and as a business we need to stay on top of these changes in order to capitalise on the benefits they bring. Digital week started on the 7th – 10th March 2016 and gave us the opportunity to build upon our existing knowledge, generate new ideas and continue to create a digital-first culture.

We had big names from the likes of Google, Twitter and Facebook who joined us throughout the week to talk about the latest developments in digital technology. We got the opportunity to test out the latest technology such as Oculus rift, Google cardboard and augmented reality.

Day 1: The week began with Trip Advisor, the world’s largest travel site. They provided us with an insight of how travel planning and booking is changing. As well as, travel companies more than ever must be agile and quick to react.

During our town hall we got the opportunity to try an exotic mock tail and sign up for a free head and neck massage to really get us in the holiday mood.

Day 2: Today we had the opportunity to meet some of the brainboxes from Twitter and Instagram. We got to understand how mobile is changing the way we behave. For example did you know that Twitter is more addictive than cigarettes and alcohol according to a study?

 

We also had the chance to have some fun with our teams in the gravity defying Instagram photo booth.

Day 3: Today we had the opportunity to be immersed in Google’s culture by focusing on their values that drive there company, how they make decisions, how they hire and why managers are key to their success.

Did you know that Google employee’s dedicate 75% of their lives to the company? But who can complain when they get free food!

Day 4: Today was all about TUI and how we embrace the opportunity of Digital, as well as tying in all the opportunities we had during this week.

Innovation is a key ingredient for us to survive the next wave of change and delight our customers like never before. The travel lab was set up in the Dreamliner lounge so that we were able to trial different types of technology that are currently being rolled out to enhance our customer’s experience.

The week was then ended with celebration drinks and a live DJ in the Dreamliner lounge to celebrate the success of our first ever Digital week.
